Mentorship and coaching require an investment of both time and money, but the benefits generated can take you and your business to the next level. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt says the best advice he ever got was to get a coach, and Bill Gates says everyone should have a coach. There are many benefits of mentorship and coaching, but here are 5 of the ones I see as being most significant.

  • Bottom-line results. When you cut out all the things you’re doing that aren’t effective and then use all the time that’s been freed up effectively, your productivity skyrockets and your profits increase.
  • You understand yourself better. You learn what makes you tick, how to motivate yourself, as how to connect what you’re doing on a daily basis with what you really value.
  • Blind-spot awareness. Everyone has blind spots. And the nature of blind spots requires that someone else point them out to us. You’ll save yourself from going down many dead-end roads when you have a good coach who can help you see the true nature of those paths.
  • Faster accomplishment of goals. When you can streamline your processes, you get where you want to go faster. You reach your goals sooner than you would have working alone.
  • Backup support. Ever find yourself questioning whether you should make a move or follow through on a decision you made? Having a knowledgable coach who understands your business can help you make the bold move you need to make, or put the brakes on a ill-informed decision without feeling guilty.
